Tanzania is a year-round safari country. The dry season from June to October is easiest for game viewing; the green season brings newborn animals, fewer visitors and lower lodge prices.
January to March: warm and mostly dry between short showers; calving in the southern Serengeti and a good time for the Ngorongoro Crater. April and May: long rains; some camps close, but the parks are green and quiet. June to October: dry with cool mornings; animals gather at rivers, the best months for Tarangire, the northern Serengeti and the southern parks. November and December: short rains, mostly afternoon showers; the herds return south.
For Kilimanjaro the driest months are January to mid-March and June to October. Zanzibar is usually driest from June to October and December to February.
Often yes. Rain usually falls in short showers, the parks are green and quieter, and lodges cost less in the low season. Only April and May can make some tracks hard to use.
Usually June to October and the weeks around Christmas and New Year. Lodges cost more then and fill early, so book in good time.
